 Press Release: For immediate release

Bicycling Across Alabama!

Registration is now open for cyclists who will take the challenge of riding across the state of Alabama. This is the 4th Annual Cycle of Service;  a journey from the Mississippi state line to the Georgia state line May 3-5th. Last year nine cyclists rode on average 85 miles for two days and a final 40 miles on the last day. The ride raised $26,000. The fundraiser was applied to repairing homes in our rural communities of Alabama mainly in Sumter, Macon, and Lee Counties. We were able to repair 13 homes through this effort.

We are in the heart of registering cyclists to ride with us and raise awareness about poverty housing and how we can help in a hands- on way! Below is the basic information regarding the ride:

There are two main ride options :

Century Ride (100 miles plus) and State-to-State Tour- Begins in Livingston, routes to Cuba, then onto Selma, Montgomery, Tuskegee, and then Phenix City

We have a large one day focus on May 4th from Selma to Tuskegee and a family fun ride that afternoon from Montgomery to Tuskegee. Riders can meet at Montgomery Multisport at 11:00 AM at Peppertree Plaza.

Also on Saturday May 4th, there will be community service work day in Tuskegee from 8-4. We will be coordinating volunteers for serving in local home repair and other service areasin the Tuskegee community.  Anyone wanting to volunteer that day can also contact us for information.

And if you cannot cycle with us, we will have some options for virtual riders. To register and for more information, go to our web site http://cycleofservice.arm-al.org  and print off the registration form. Registration goes through April 13th. So, come join us on this great adventure and help us share Christ’s love as we ride!
