Bicylists Preparing to Ride 300 Miles Across Alabama

A group of cyclists are preparing to ride up to 300 miles across Alabama beginning Friday April 21st. Cyclists are riding and raising funds to help families with low incomes make their homes warm, safe, dry and beautiful. Several will cycle 100 miles a day over three days. Others are riding for one day and some logging miles over the next six weeks.

From Friday, April 21st-April 23, 10-12 cyclists will be crossing Alabama to raise awareness about the housing needs in some of the poorest areas of our country, while raising money for home repairs in Lee, Macon and Sumter counties. Their ride will cover 100 miles a day for three days and is a triple century challenge.

13 cyclists will cover 100 miles a day to raise awareness about substandard housing in Alabama and how to help. The team is raising $25,000 used to repair homes for 20-30 families using close to a 1000 volunteers.

Alabama Rural Ministry will be celebrating MLK Day 2016 through community worship, home repair ministry, and a children’s event! All are invited to worship with us on Sunday January 17th from 4pm – 6pm at Tuskegee Methodist Church. On Monday, January 18th, two opportunities are available: (1) volunteers can serve with us through home repair ministry and (2) children ages 5-10 can attend our MLKidz event!

8 Cyclists begin their 300 mile track across Alabama on Friday. Below is the locations of their main stops. Riders have gained sponsors to help low income families, the elderly, and veterans, with vital home repair through volunteers.
